Wat geweldig dat u geïnteresseerd bent in het adopteren van één van onze katten. Hieronder vindt u stap voor stap de adoptieprocedure. Als u vragen heeft over de procedure, kunt u een e-mail sturen naar dogsoaj@gmail.com.

Stap 1: Vind uw potentiële nieuwe beste vriend

Kijk naar de advertenties van onze prachtige katten die een nieuw huis nodig hebben. Lees de tekst en overweeg of het dier bij u past. U vindt informatie over hun compatibiliteit met andere potentiële dieren in uw huis, kinderen, activiteitsniveaus en meer.

Stap 2: Pre-adoptieformulier invullen

De volgende stap is het invullen van het pre-adoptieformulier onderaan het huisdierprofiel. Dit formulier helpt ons om te bepalen of u geschikt bent voor de betreffende kat. Zodra u het formulier hebt ingevuld, nemen we binnen 3 werkdagen contact met u op.

Stap 3: Intake

Naar aanleiding van het pre-adoptieformulier plannen we een intake in waarin we u leren kennen, al u mogelijke vragen beantwoorden en willen weten of u nog geïnteresseerd bent in adoptie. Indien zowel wij als uzelf na een positieve intake nog steeds enthousiast zijn dan evalueren wij het binnen ons team en zullen, afhankelijk waar de kat op dat moment verblijft, een kennismaking (indien reeds in NL) en een huisbezoek inplannen.

Stap 4: Kennismaking met de kat in Nederland

Een kennismaking gebeurt altijd bij de opvanger thuis, omdat dit voor de kat een vertrouwde plek is en u dan ook een goed beeld krijgt van het gedrag. Deze kennismaking is een meetmoment voor uzelf én voor de opvanger om goed te kunnen beoordelen of er een mogelijke klik is tussen u en de kat.

Stap 5: Huisbezoek

Na een positieve intake en/ of een kennismaking plannen we een (virtueel) huisbezoek met u in om te bepalen of uw huis cat-proof is. Tijdens het huisbezoek krijgt u alle nodige informatie voor een succesvolle adoptie. Vaak hebben we dan ookal een idee wanneer uw nieuwe beste vriend naar u kan komen. Samen zorgen we ervoor dat de overgang voor jullie beiden zo soepel mogelijk verloopt. Gedurende deze tijd maken we een WhatsApp-groep met u en ons team om snel informatie uit te wisselen en eventuele aanvullende vragen te beantwoorden.

Stap 6: Transportreservering

Als het huisbezoek goed is verlopen en u bent zelf ook nog steeds enthousiast, reserveren we een plek voor transport. Let op zorg dat u zeker bent dat u de procedure dan ook volbrengt, dit brengt namelijk kosten voor de stichting met zich mee, die niet gerestitutioneerd kunnen worden.

Stap 7: Adoptieovereenkomst

De laatste stap voordat uw nieuwe huisdier uw kant op komt. Indien een kat nog in het buitenland verblijft, ontvangen wij in de week van transport het paspoort en stellen dan de adoptieovereenkomst op. Wij verzoeken u deze zo snel mogelijk te tekenen en het resterende bedrag te voldoen op onze rekening.

Hieronder vindt u de gedetailleerde adoptiekosten:

Wij laten de katten voor vertrek ontvlooien en ontwormen, ze worden gevaccineerd, voorzien van chip en paspoort en mits ze niet te jong zijn gesteriliseerd of gecastreerd. Ook worden ze getest op ziektes o.a. FIV en FeLV.

Let op: Indien het een te jonge kat betreft, dient u er rekening mee te houden dat wij een borg stellen bovenop de adoptiebijdrage van €150,-. Deze krijgt u teruggestort nadat u heeft aangetoond de kat of poes te hebben gesteriliseerd.

Stap 8: Ready for transport

Uw kat wordt door onze transportpartners uit het asiel gehaald. Afhankelijk van het aantal dieren dat voor de shuttle is geboekt, kan het transport meer dan 20 uur duren. De lengte van de reis is sterk afhankelijk van verkeer en grenscontroles. Hoe lang de reis ook duurt, de chauffeurs zullen voldoende pauzes nemen om de dieren aan boord te voeren en water te geven. Door deze omstandigheden is het voor ons onmogelijk om precies aan te geven wanneer de kat op de afgesproken ophaalplek arriveert. We geven u een ETA de avond voordat de kat zal arriveren.

Stap 9: U hebt met succes een kat geadopteerd!

Wat spannend, u hebt uw nieuwe beste vriend in huis. Spannende tijden, het zal voor jullie beiden even wennen zijn en onderweg zijn we er voor jullie. Adopting one of our cats step-by-step

How amazing that you are interested in adopting one of our cats. Below, you will find the step-by-step adoption procedure. If you have any questions about the procedure, please email dogsoaj@gmail.com.

Step 1: Find your potential new best friend

Look at the profiles of our wonderful cats needing a new home. Read the text and consider whether the animal is a good fit for you. You will find information about their compatibility with other potential animals in your home, children, activity levels, and more.

Step 2: Fill out the pre-adoption form

The next step is to fill out the pre-adoption form at the bottom of the pet profile. This form helps us determine your suitability for the dog in question. Once you have completed the form, we will contact you within 3 business days.

Step 3: Intake

Following the pre-adoption form, we will schedule an intake in which we will get to know you, answer all your potential questions, and want to know if you are still interested in adoption. If both, you and we, are still enthusiastic after a positive intake, we will evaluate it within our team and will, depending on where the cat is staying at that time, schedule an introduction (if already in NL) and a home visit.

Step 4: Meeting the cat (in the Netherlands)

An introduction always takes place at the home of the fosterer, because it’s a familiar place for the cat and you will get a good picture of the cat’s behavior. This introduction is a measuring moment for you and for the fosterer to see if there is a potential click between you and the cat.

Step 5: Home visit

After a positive intake and/ or introduction, we schedule a (virtual) home visit to determine whether your home is cat-proof. During the home visit, you will receive all the necessary information for a successful adoption. We usually have a better idea of when your new best friend will come to you. Together, we will ensure the transition is as smooth as possible for both of you. During this time, we create a WhatsApp group with you and our team to exchange information and answer any additional questions quickly.

Step 6: Transport reservation

If the home visit went well and you are still enthusiastic about adopting the cat, we will reserve a place for transport. Please note: make sure that you are sure to complete the procedure then, as this will incur costs for our foundation, which cannot be refunded.

Step 7: Adoption agreement

This is the final step before your new pet comes your way. If the cat is still abroad, we will receive the passport during the week of transport and will then prepare the adoption agreement. We ask that you sign it as soon as possible and pay the remaining amount into our account.

Below are the detailed adoption fees:

The cats will be de-flead and de-wormed before departure. They are vaccinated, provided with a chip and passport, and if not too young, will be spayed or neutered. They are also tested for diseases including FIV and FeLV.

Please note: If the cat is too young to be sterilized, we add a deposit on top of the adoption fee of €150. This will be refunded to you after you have proven that you have sterilized the cat.

Step 8: Ready for transport

Your cat will be picked up from the shelter by our transport partners. Depending on the number of animals booked for the shuttle, the transport may take more than 20 hours. The length of the trip is highly dependent on traffic and border controls. No matter how long the trip is, the drivers will take plenty of breaks to feed and water the animals on board. Due to these circumstances, it is impossible for us to indicate exactly when the cat will arrive at the agreed upon pick-up location. We will give you an ETA the evening before the cat will arrive.

Step 9: You have successfully adopted a cat!

How exciting, you have your new best friend in your home! It will take some getting used to for both of you we are here for you along the way.
